WOLF: 'What Happened In 06(66)????'
December 24, 2006Sweden's WOLF has issued the following update:
"We've had a great year. We started it by waking up early 2006 with a hangover and a new record deal. We spent the beginning of the year writing the songs for the album, which means fighting about riffs, lyrics, intros, titles, solos, kick-drums, if a heavy metal band has handcream in the rehearsal place, if the guitars are too loud, etc...aaah...good times :-) We took a break in April to do the Metal and Hardcore fest in New England, USA, which was great!!! Meating up with 'ol friends in bands and making new ones while playing metal and watching Mikael get thrown out off the pub is all a metal child needs. During summer, we looked ourselves in the Fredman studio recording 'The Black Flame'. It was great to work with Fredrik [Nordström] and Power-Pat [Patrik J. Sten], and of course, the result was to our (and many of you) liking!!! A video was shot in Umeå during two days where we drenched Viper in blood and laughed when he got tortured. The rest of the summer was spent doing what we do best: Listening to SAXON and party!!!
"Getting the album together (music, cover, credits, paperwork etc.) took most of early fall and it all fell into place when Tomas Holm sent us the final cover for the album. He's done artwork for us before ('Black Wings', 2002) but this time he outdid himself. In fact, he could have painted fucking anything since he's responsible for the 'Don't Break The Oath' cover artwork...Hell yeah!!!
"So the album was released in September in Europe (U.K. release February 2007) and October in the U.S. We hit the sales lists and did press like ever before. We we're happy as an old man sitting alone watching porn.
"We started playing the songs live and had a great time. Having The Reaper coming up to sing on the song 'Children of the Black Flame' is truly an honor and I'm sure it means that we are on his 'not their time yet' list...
"Having Viper cut off half his finger the night before the Sweden Rock kick-off gig was a bit scary...but since we are steelwinged savage reapers we kicked ass with one guitar and Viper on vocals. After listening to David Coverdale saying: 'It's the wolf and the snake' (yes, I know I've told you before, but it rocks soooo much),we went to Germany for the tour with the guys in DEW-SCENTED and TRIVIUM. Of course we played loud and didn't shower for a week and a half...
"We hope to spend more time on the road in 2007 and we're looking forward to the U.K. release in February."
